Frequently asked questions
Quick answers about replaying, plans and your account.
Getting started
What is Replay?
Replay is a backtesting platform. You pick an instrument and a date in the past, and the market replays from that moment. You trade with a simulated account and nothing is revealed before its time, so you practise without hindsight.
Is this real money?
No. All trading is simulated. Balances, positions and results are practice figures and don't involve any broker or real funds.
Do I need an account?
You can browse without one, but creating a session needs an account. Sign up with your email and confirm it using the link we send you.
I didn't get the verification or password reset email.
Check your spam folder first, then use "Resend verification email" on the login page or request a new reset link. Links expire (24 hours for verification, 1 hour for reset). Still nothing? Contact support.
Replay & charts
How does playback speed work?
You choose how much chart time passes for every amount of real time, for example 1 minute of chart every 1 second, or 5 minutes every 1 second. The slowest option is real time and the fastest is 10 chart minutes per real second. Each step is checked against your open trades, which is why there is an upper limit.
Does speed depend on the timeframe I'm viewing?
No. The market always moves forward in 1-minute steps. On a 1h or 1D chart you simply watch the current candle form minute by minute. Switching timeframe never changes how fast time passes. Skip buttons and shortcuts also move 1 minute at a time.
Can I go backwards?
No. A replay only moves forward, so results stay honest. You can jump forward to a session open (New York, London, Asia) or a date with Go to. Open trades are still checked for stop loss, take profit and pending orders on every skipped minute.
Where does the market data come from?
Historical data comes from Dukascopy, plus other sources for some instruments. It's good for practice, but it won't match your broker's feed tick for tick, and spreads, slippage and execution in real markets differ.
What does the spread setting do?
It adds a bid/ask spread (in pips) to simulated fills so results are less optimistic. Set it close to what your broker charges.
Plans & billing
What are the plans?
Basic is free: 1 session, 1 year of history, 3 journaled trades and a limited instrument list. Essential ($8 per 4 weeks, or $84/year) gives 3 sessions, up to 6 years of history, an unlimited journal, partial profits and all forex. Plus ($14 per 4 weeks, or $150/year) adds unlimited sessions, data back to 2006, all instruments, prop firm challenges and personalised analytics. See the Plans page for the full list.
What do the plan colours next to my name mean?
They show your current plan: grey for Basic, blue for Essential, and green with a lightning bolt for Plus.
How do I upgrade, downgrade or cancel?
Open the profile menu and choose "Your plan & its benefits". If plan changes are not available there yet, contact support and we'll sort it out.
What happens to my sessions if I downgrade?
Nothing is deleted and you can still view your records. But you can only resume as many unfinished sessions as your plan allows, and features or data outside your plan are locked until you upgrade again.
Can I get a refund?
[Describe your refund policy here, e.g. refunds within 14 days of a first purchase.] If you're in the EU/EEA, your statutory rights are covered in the Terms. Contact support with your account email.
Trading features
What are prop firm challenges?
A Plus feature. You trade under rules such as profit target, daily loss and max drawdown. The session tells you when you pass or fail, and then the challenge ends.
What is the journal?
A place to write notes and tags on each trade and revisit them later. Basic includes up to 3 journaled trades, Essential and Plus are unlimited.
What is live paper trading?
Practice trading against live prices with a simulated account, available on every plan. It is still not real money.
